Detox Saves Lives

VIP In-Home Detox© Brings Addiction Treatment to You

In breaking the bonds of drug addiction: alcohol, opioids, stimulants, street drugs or prescription medications, detoxification is the first critical step. Whether attempted “cold turkey” (alone at home without help–which rarely succeeds), or in a professionally-structured treatment facility, the stigma of negative publicity can be a harmful deterrent, especially for high-profile professionals–athletes, media celebrities, political or business leaders whose careers or reputations may be unjustly jeopardized.

Headquartered in Southeast Florida, VIP In-Home Detox© is aligned with regional treatment teams (registered nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, coaches) capable of serving clients in most areas of the continental U.S. Whether you reside in Virginia, Texas, New York, California, Illinois, Colorado, or anywhere else in the country, we can either dispatch a local team directly to you, or if you prefer—for privacy reasons—we can assemble a team from an alternate location that makes you more comfortable.

Generally, treatment for addictive substances must be thought of as a process—not an overall cure. There are several stages of rehabilitation required before a return to a drug-free state can be achieved. But in almost every case, detoxification (cleansing the body of harmful toxins while at the time managing the discomfort and symptoms that are part of the withdrawal) is Stage 1 in that recovery. This is what we specialize in at VIP IN-HOME DETOX.

But we also recognize that this is just the first part of a longer journey—one that involves rehabilitation and a staged re-entry to an addiction-free life. Assisting our clients to continue this journey and connecting them with the most appropriate services for their needs is part of our mission. We take that seriously.

Our Holistic Approach

Our Holistic, Multidimensional approach to treatment

For many years there has been a belief that treating “drug” addiction with yet another “drug” or medication was counterproductive and was discouraged. But the more recent development of various therapies combining certain medications with behavioral counselling has broadened and strengthened a more holistic approach to treatment which we are advancing in our detox programs.

The Food and Drug Administration has recently endorsed a broadening of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and has approved buprenorphine, methadone, and naltrexone in treating opioid addiction (Opioid Use Disorder) involving powerful pain-killers such as hydrocodone, oxycodone (Percocet), oxymorphone, morphine, codeine, or fentanyl when offered in combination with counseling and psychosocial supports. Suboxone is a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Subutex is buprenorphine alone; naltrexone, known as Vivitral or Revia has also been shown effective in treating alcohol addiction. It’s worth noting that as addiction treatment has evolved into a clinically accepted/diagnostic medical condition, terms such as alcohol, or opioid, or stimulant addiction are being referred to as substance use disorder (SUD).

Whichever treatment course we follow, it will be structured to your particular needs and your informed approval. You will be a “full partner” in the process of your own recovery. And once detoxed (which may take up to 10 days), committing to a longer-term plan of medical maintenance, outpatient or residential rehabilitation or a continuing program of in-home health maintenance and rehabilitation is the next positive step in regaining a life of sobriety and well-being. Assisting you in making that transition is part of our mission.

Detox: The First Step

Substance Use Disorder (SUD), which is the medical terminology for addiction to drugs that affect brain function, covers a broad range of drugs, many of which are medications known for their therapeutic effects. Some, such as naloxone (NARCAN) can save lives, alleviate pain (fentanyl), or even heighten the enjoyment of social festivities such as weddings or birthdays (alcohol).

But when misused, drugs such as benzodiazepines (e.g., Xanax, Valium, Ativan); opioids (e.g., heroin, fentanyl, oxycodone, hydrocodone); stimulants (e.g., cocaine or methamphetamine); or alcohol, often result in debilitating addiction, and too often, death. As we have seen, in 2022 more than 100,00 deaths have been attributed nationally to drug overdoses (fentanyl accounting for about 70 percent).
